Online Calendar Tool
Do you need to add event calendaring to your website? Level 7 Solutions offers an easy to use,
easy to maintain, database-driven online calendar tool written for the .NET Framework. It puts the
power of website calendar maintenance in your hands by allowing anyone with the username/password
pair and an Internet connection to maintain the calendar. No software or training is required.
To add an events calendar to your website, there only a few options.
- Without our Online Calendar Tool: Create a static HTML page and manually update the calendar on a weekly or daily basis.
This method requires expensive software, knowledge of HTML programming and web page publishing,
time and labor, and resources (people to do the work). Obviously, this is slow and costly and
rather unreliable.
- With our Online Calendar Tool: Use a database-driven tool with web-based management screens. This is where our tool falls
in. Read more about it below.
Website Viewers (people browsing your site)
For them, your site will present the old familiar hang-on-the-wall calendar interface with events
filled in the days. The page the calendar sits on will always display the current month in the
calendar. It uses the web server's system to know what the current day is and displays the
month that day belongs in. The current day is also highlighted a special color.
Users are presented with event titles and the event's category in the day-blocks of the calendar.
A simple left-click on the number of the day (12 on the calendar for May 12th, for example),
will display a grid of all the events for that day along with:
- Time
- Location
- Category
- Detailed description
- Link to a document
- Link to a map
- Link to a related website
Website Administrators
For admins, a login page is provided for them to supply their given username and password to
gain access to the management pages. The management pages are web-based forms where admins
can simply fill in textboxes and use standard website controls to maintain the events. No
HTML, Database or Website Publishing knowledge is needed and no tools are necessary other than
a web browser (FireFox, IE) and an Internet connection.
In the management pages you can do the following:
- Add, Modify, and Delete events
- Add, Modify, and Delete event categories
Events have the following attributes:
- Title
- Time
- Date
- Description
- Document link
- Map link
- Website link
- Category
- Location
Changes are made directly to the database in real-time (upon form submission) and take
effect in the user calendar immediately.
Requirements
The web server must have a Windows operating system (Windows 2000 or Windows 2003) and
version 1.1 of the Microsoft .NET Framework (free download from Microsoft). The site must
also have access to a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or greater database. A version using MS Access
can be requested.
Pricing:
$350 for a perpetual license.
